Mesothelioma Symptoms

Mesothelioma is a type of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestos fibers that are ingested or inhaled can be lodged into the body, causing infections or swelling. Mesothelioma can sometimes affect the abdomen or heart as well. In the United States, about 2,000 to 3,000 new cases of mesothelioma are diagnosed annually. It typically occurs in men, at a ratio of 4:1. There is currently no cure for this disease.
